1022 James Weir

Biography

City boss Mike Phelan plucked youngster Weir from Manchester United’s reserves, a team he captained during 2016.  He was given a City debut in the League Cup but he failed to impress Phelan and his successor Silva, and spent the second half of 2016/17 on loan at Wigan Athletic.  During the 2017/18 season his role was to support the first team.

Weir was at his local club Preston North End as a teenager before signing for Manchester United at the age of 16.  He made his sole senior appearance for the Red Devils in February 2016.

Weir represented England at under-16 and under-18 levels.
