1021 David Marshall

Biography

Scottish international goalkeeper Marshall was one of City’s marquee signings during the August 2017 transfer window and made an impressive start to his career with a fine debut in the League Cup at Stoke.  Alas, his arrival saw fans’ favourite Eldin Jakupovic dropped and when City’s defence began conceding multiple goals, Marshall became the lightning rod for supporters’ ire.

Hailing from Glasgow, Marshall began his career at Celtic where he made occasional appearances over a five year period.  In 2007 he joined Norwich City, initially on loan and then permanently, where he carved a role as first team regular.  In 2009 he moved west to Cardiff City where he was a near ever-present for seven seasons, which featured an impressive debut season in the Premier League.

Marshall played for Scotland under-21s before making his senior debut in 2004.  For several seasons Marshall shared Scotland first eleven duties with team-mate Allan McGregor.
