1018 Ryan Mason

Biography

North Londoner Mason was Hull City’s record signing when £12m was paid to Tottenham Hotspur for his services in August 2016.  He made an early impression with a spectacular ninja-style goal at Stoke in the League Cup, but he struggled with form as City’s form hit rock-bottom during the Autumn of 2016.  Marco Silva’s arrival gave Mason a new lease of life and he was immediately put back into the first team, but a sickening and life-threatening head injury sustained at Chelsea in January 2017 ended his season and had the potential to end his career.

Prior to joining the Tigers, Ryan was a born-and-bred Tottenham Hotspur who was on the fringes of the first team after several seasons of being loaned out to lower league clubs and, in 2013, French club Lorient.

Mason played for England at all under-age levels before making his senior debut during a friendly against Italy in March 2015.
