Scottish left back Robertson made an instant positive impression during an assured City debut at QPR in August 2014, and established himself as a first team regular before injury curtailed his season. In the subsequent two seasons Robertson was a fixture in the City first XI, combining dogged defending (with the occasional blunder) with pacy forward running and the occasional goal.
Glaswegian Robertson was a junior at Glasgow Celtic but at the age of 15 he was discarded and signed for Queens Park. He made his senior bow for Queens Park in August 2012, which encouraged him to pursue a footballing career ahead of a university place. After one successful season at Hampden Park Andy signed for Dundee United and once again excelled, encouraging City to pay £2.85m for him in July 2014.
By July 2017 Robertson’s three high quality seasons at City had attracted the attention of bigger clubs than the relegated Tigers, and he moved to Liverpool for a £10m fee.
Robertson broke into the Scotland under-21 side while at Dundee United and made his senior debut a few months later, six days before his 20th birthday. He soon established himself as regular left back in the Scottish team.
