992 Tom Ince

Biography

The son of West Ham United and Manchester United midfielder Paul Ince, Tom carved a reputation for attacking prowess at Blackpool that prompted City to sign him in July 2014 for a £1.6m fee eventually decided by FA Tribunal.  Despite his ball playing talents he never established himself in Steve Bruce’s Premier League team and within three months we loaned to Nottingham Forest and then Derby County.

A youth player at Liverpool, Ince failed to establish a first team spot at Anfield and moved to Blackpool on a three year contract at the age of 19.  After two impressive seasons at Bloomfield Road Ince was lured by the Premier League during January 2014 when he was loaned to Crystal Palace.  But that moved failed to impress and he returned to Blackpool that summer.  Ince was alleged to have attracted the interest of Monaco and Inter Milan before he signed for the Tigers.

In July 2015 Ince signed permanently for Derby County after a successful loan, earning City £4.75m.  He returned to his Blackpool form, assembling a series of impressive attacking performances and plenty of goals during his two years at Pride Park.  In July 2017 Ince signed for newly promoted Huddersfield Town for around £8m, netting City a useful sell-on fee.

Ince was a regular England under-21 for several seasons, after having played at under-17 and under-19 levels.
