975 Mark Oxley

Biography

Goalkeeper Oxley was snapped up by the Tigers in 2008 when he was an 18 year old in Rotherham United’s youth team.  He stuck around for seven years, enjoyed several loan spells, occasionally sat on the City bench and made his solitary appearance against Sheffield Wednesday in 2013 when he replaced the “injured” Eldin Jakupovic when the embarrassed Swiss had conceded a goal after an horrific blooper.

In the Summer of 2014 Oxley signed for Hibernian on loan.  He announced his arrival early by scoring a goal with a wind-assisted drop kick on his debut, and a year later he signed permanently for the Hi-Bees.  In 2016 he switched to Southend United, reuniting with former City boss Phil Brown.

In the early stages of his City career Oxley was capped at England under-18 and under-20 levels.
